  4. How to become an expert in your field

Chambers of Commerce or local associations are always looking for speakers who can make presentations of interest to their members. Contact your local chamber offices or organizations who would benefit from your expertise to  offer your services as a presenter at a future meeting.

Your local small business newspaper accepts articles from experts in their field.  If you are an accountant or attorney who is well versed on newsworthy topics, contact the Editor and offer to write an article. The media relies on experts for information.  A well written, informative article will gain recognition and publicity for you and your services.
Write an e-book or a white paper and make it available on your website for potential customers to download.  White papers are the perfect venue to show how much you know about your industry and are educational vehicles to let potential customers know that you are an expert on a particular topic.

If you are not a writer, hire a copywriter or a PR firm to write your article or speech. You can also hire a PR firm to pitch you to potential organizations. 

Make a DVD or CD to give out at your presentations.  You can also send these out to your local radio and TV stations to offer your services as a guest on a local talk show.
