- Sign up for an account at adwords.google.com and dabble in internet advertising. Start small. Goggle allows you to set a daily budget. When your daily budget is depleted, your ad will not appear until the next day.
- Before designing an ad or setting a budget, use the Adwords Keyword Tool to view which words are actually being searched by your potential customers. Type a word or phrase which you feel is relevant to your product or service into the Keyword Tool (allow synonyms). Follow the steps on the screen and you will see the number of searches per word for the current month, and then an average over a recent 12 month period.
- This keyword research in invaluable when copywriting the content for your website. Include the words that are both the most popular and those that are less popular within the paragraphs of each relevant website page. For example, “marketing consultant” has 60,500 searches on average per month. Although this is highly relevant to Marketing Xperience it means that we would not be likely to be on the first page of a search engine results page. For Marketing Xperience to rank higher (and maybe on the first page) of the search engine adding the words “marketing your business” to our site means we will be “a big fish in a small pond”.
